The Barr Reeve Vikings Golf Team picked up two more wins tonight in a three teamer at the Country Club of Old Vincennes. Barr Reeve carded a 172, South Knox 174, Vincennes 199. Sam Emmons was a medalist with a 39.
North Daviess Cougars baseball team gave up a run in the 1st, then shut down Bloomfield 11-1 in five innings. The Cougars are back home tonight at 5:30 against Bedford.

The Chicago Cubs offense broke out of its funk and beat the New York Mets 16-4 at Wrigley Field. The Cubs scored seven in the fourth inning to take the lead and did not look back. Elsewhere in baseball, the Tigers and Pirates split a doubleheader in Detroit. Pittsburgh took the first seven inning game 3-2, while the Tigers bounced back with a 5-2 win in game two. Arizona took a pair of games from the Cincinnati Reds. The Diamondbacks held on to win 5-4 in the completion of a suspended game from last night. In the regularly scheduled contest, the Reds blew a 3-0 lead in the top of the ninth and the D-backs went on to win 8-5 in 10 innings. Max Scherzer led the Nationals to a 1-0 win over the Cardinals, and the White Sox and Indians were snowed out in Cleveland.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced that next month’s Indianapolis 500 will have fans in attendance with venue capacity at 40 percent or a maximum of about 135 thousand spectators. IMS is the world’s largest sporting facility, and the plan was developed in consultation with the Marion County Public Health Department. A crowd of 135 thousand would mark the largest crowd at a sporting event since the pandemic began. Fans will be required to wear masks, and will be temperature checked before entering. Infield viewing mounds will be closed, and no general admission tickets will be sold for race day. Fans will be able to attend all days of track activity in May, including the GMR Grand Prix, qualifications and Carb Day, although some events were canceled, such as the concerts at Carb Day and the Snake Pit. The 105th Running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for May 30th.
The shorthanded Indiana Pacers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 122-116 Wednesday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse to snap a three-game losing streak.
