A southern Indiana man is in jail after leading Indiana State Police on a multi-county chase.
At around 11:30 Wednesday night, a state trooper stopped a driver for a headlight violation.
During the traffic stop, the driver, 29-year-old Cody McCool of Chandler, showed signs of impairment.
Eventually, he got back into his car and sped off on SR 62 into Mt. Vernon.
McCool was able to avoid stop sticks by driving on the side of the road, nearly hitting a deputy in the process.
He then continued traveling from Posey County into Vanderburgh County.
Eventually, he hit several stop sticks near Shuttle Road, and again on Fielding Road.
He drove even further before he lost control and crashed into a ditch at Monroe Avenue in Chandler.
After the crash, McCool tried to run but was tased and caught six minutes later.
He was arrested and transported to the Posey County Jail.
