Oscar Parker

Oscar G. Parker “Big O” age 80 of Petersburg passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Golden Living Center.
Oscar was born December 31, 1940 in Sharples, West Virginia to Dettie Frances (Lambert) and James Mason Parker. He attended Logan High School. He received his G.E.D. in the Army. He retired from IPL Generating Station on July 1, 2001. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Petersburg America Legion where he served as past commander and also a member of Indiana National Guard, Moose Lodge and the BassMasters Association. He loved to fish and had won many major fishing tournaments. He started the first BassMasters club in Washington, Indiana.
Oscar is survived by his wife Mary (Piercefield) whom he married on November 24, 1990; sister Janice May Parker of Jeffrey, WV; three children Sandra Kay (Tony) Berkemeier of St. Wendel, James, Wesley (Li Di) Parker of Evansville and Cheri Parker of Washington; stepson Marty Joe Thompson of Newton, IL; stepdaughter Marla Jean (Ron) Diel of Gila, IL; one grandson David Michael Berkemeier of St. Wendel and two step-grandchildren Kaitlyn Jo Diel (Josh) Stremme of Terre Haute and Jacob Willis Diel of Gila, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Delbert Ray Parker and Robert Clay Parker; sister Wilma Gay Lane and grandson Jacob Wesley Parker.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with the funeral starting at 1:00 pm with Yvonne Evans officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at Sugarland Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations sent to American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.edleemortuary.com. All arrangements were entrusted to Ed Lee Mortuary.
