The Washington Hatchet Baseball team improved to 11 and 7 with a conference win at home last night over Princeton 6 to 1.  Trey Reed went the distance on the bump with 14 strike-outs.  The Hatchets honored former long-time baseball coach Steve Walker prior to last night’s game.  Washington is right back at it tonight weather permitting at North Posey.

Barr Reeve edged out a big win over Linton last night 10 to 9.  Lane Graber got the win for the Vikings while Ethan Stoll picked up the save.
North Daviess shut out Vincennes Rivet 10 to nothing
Washington girls tennis defeated Barr Reeve in a very competitive match 4-1. Washington moved to 16-0 on the season.
The top ranked Tecumseh Braves Softball team shut out Washington last night at the Sports Complex 16 to 0.

The Washington Lady Hatchet Basketball team has been invited to compete in the prestigious Hall of Fame Classic this year at New Castle.   The teams were officially announced yesterday.  The tournament will be held over the Christmas Break on Wednesday, December 29th at New Castle Fieldhouse.  Washington will play in game two of the tournament against South Bend Washington.   The first game will pit Westfield against Franklin Community.  The two winners will play for the championship later that night.  Washington has recorded eight straight seasons with 15 or more wins, with sectional championships the past two years.  Their 40-6 record over the past two seasons is 6th best in the state in that span.  Head coach Gretchen Miles is 196-91 in 13 seasons leading her alma mater, including 12 winning seasons.  The Lady Hatchets make their 2nd appearance in Girls’ Classic history – both with Gretchen Miles involved.  A sophomore, Miles was named to the All-Classic team in the 1994 event after totaling 32 points and eight assists against eventual state champion Huntington North and #3 Lake Central.
Anthony Rizzo drove in Matt Duffy with a walk-off single, and the Chicago Cubs outlasted the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-5 in 11 innings at Wrigley Field. The Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago White Sox 1-0 in 10 innings to earn a split of the two-game series at Great American Ball Park. Tucker Barnhart scored the winning run on a walk off single off the bat of Jesse Winker in the bottom of the 10th. The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets split a doubleheader at Busch Stadium. The Cards took game one 4-1, and the Mets bounced back with a 7-2 win in game two. Jeimer Candelario hit a three-run home run in the top of the 10th and the Detroit Tigers held on to beat the Boston Red Sox 6-5 at Fenway Park. Josh Naylor homered in the top of ninth and Cleveland defeated Kansas City 5-4. Naylor’s solo blast completed a comeback for the Indians after they were down 4-0.
The Indiana Pacers have lost four out of five after falling to the Sacramento Kings 104-93 Wednesday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
