James Christopher Cox, age 70, of West Baden Springs, passed on June 7, 2021, in Jasper. He was born June 9, 1950, to Harold Eugene and Mabel Irene (Sherfick) Cox in Harrison County, Indiana. He married Juanita Harker on September 27, 1971, and she survives.
James was a graduate of Shoals High School Class of 1969, graduated from Northwood College with a business degree, and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, stationed at Offutt AFB in Nebraska and Camp Newenham AFS in Alaska. He was formerly employed by Jones Service Station, Terry’s Ford Town, Kimball International and was a Commonwealth Insurance Agent. He was a member of the West Baden Springs American Legion Post and was of the Methodist Faith. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, history and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Juanita; children, Melynda (Shawn) Frederick, Amanda (Mike) Switzer, Paul (EmmyLou) Cox and Danielle Cox; grandchildren, Steven Lagenour, Hunter Frederick, Jon Switzer, Baylee Powell and Alexis Powell; great-grandchildren, Peyton Switzer, Myra Switzer, Maverick Switzer and Bellamy Powell.
Preceding him in death are his father, Gene Cox; mother, Mabel Cox; and brother Danny Cox.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The Queen-Lee Chapel of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements.
