The Washington and Barr Reeve Boys Golf teams play this morning in the Washington regional at Country Oaks in Montgomery. Washington captured the sectional championship at Vincennes last week, while the Vikings were a close second two strokes behind. The regional is set to tee off at 8:30am this morning weather permitting.
For the second year in a row, the Indiana Pacers are looking for a new head coach. The team announced Wednesday it has fired Nate Bjorkgren after one season. Team president Kevin Pritchard said the decision to fire the 45-year-old Bjorkgren was his own, and took responsibility for the risky hire that did not work out. Pritchard added that there are certain traits that are non-negotiables as he heads into his second coaching search in less than a year. The Blue and Gold were hampered by injuries and went 34-38. Indiana lost to Washington in the NBA’s first-ever Play-In Tournament, failing to make the playoffs for the first time in six years.
The Indiana Fever lost 92-76 to the Chicago Sky Wednesday night in the Windy City. Indiana has lost six in a row to fall to 1-10.
The Chicago Cubs beat the San Diego Padres 3-1 Wednesday at Petco Park
The Reds defeated the Brewers 7-3 to end Milwaukee’s five-game winning streak and put the Cubs a half game up in the NL Central. The Cardinals won 8-2 over Cleveland to end a six-game losing skid, while the Mariners scored five runs in the 11th inning and went on to beat the Tigers 9-6. The Toronto Blue Jays scored three runs in the eighth inning and added two in the ninth to beat the White Sox 6-2 in Chicago.
