Central Dispatch Center moves forward

911-2

The City of Washington and Daviess County are moving ahead with a central 911 dispatch center.
The announcement was made during yesterday’s Daviess County Board of Commissioners meeting.
City and County officials have been working together to nail out the details of the merger and have developed plan that would incorporate both teams.
Currently, the collective cost of the city and county dispatch centers is around $1.4 million dollars. The combined center will have an estimated cost of about $1.1 million annually.
Commissioner Nathan Gabhart noted that the cost savings was the cherry on top, but that it really wasn’t factored into the decisions. He noted that the quality of product and efficiency of the combined center was the focus.
The Daviess County Commissioners agreed to move ahead with the plan and agreed to form a Central Dispatch Financial Board.
The goal is to have the combined 911 dispatch center up and running by the 4th quarter of 2021.
