Georgia Ann Ackerman, 78, of Loogootee, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021 at her home.
She was born July 9, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late George and Winifred (Fettic) Carrico.
Georgia married Albert T. “Skip” Ackerman on September 30, 1961 and together they raised four children.
She retired from NSWC Crane after approximately 20 years of employment. She loved her family, grandchildren and working outdoors. She loved sweets and especially enjoyed ice cream. Georgia was a volunteer at the St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Winifred Carrico and sister, Beverly (Bill) Vaughan.
She is survived by her husband, Skip of Loogootee; sons, Eric (Susan) Ackerman of Loogootee, Dirk (Lisa) Ackerman of Elletsville, Cameron Ackerman of Loogootee and Brant (Renee) Ackerman of Washington; grandchildren, Jill (Michael) Wininger, Bryant (Brittany) Ackerman, Abby (Luke Harmon) Ackerman, Nicholas Ackerman, Brooke (Jeff) Mackey, Taylor (Amie) Abram, Mikaela (Reed) Norton, Maura (Brian) Brown, Noah, Azeria and Analiese Ackerman; 11 great-grandchildren; nephew, Brent (Carrie) Vaughan; niece, Cara (Russ Kaufman) Vaughan; sister-in-law, Ann Ackerman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2021, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee, officiated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 27, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
