Man hit by car while changing tire

A man was hit by a car last week in Dubois County while attempting to fix a flat tire.
On Friday around noon, the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a broken-down vehicle on State Road 56, just east of County Road 400 East in Dubois.
41-year-old James Taber of Perry County, saw the vehicle broken down and had pulled over and offered to help the occupants.
Taber was changing a tire when an SUV driven by 83-year-old Nancy Brosmer of Dubois failed to see the broken down vehicle.
Brosmer swerved at the last minute to avoid hitting the vehicle.
She failed to see Taber and struck him on the right side, sending him airborne.
Taber was transported to the hospital by Memorial EMS for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
He was later released.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a contributing factor. The investigation is still ongoing.
