Several businesses throughout Daviess County have expressed concern for the shortage of workers in the community.
According to Indiana Economic Digest, Daviess County and Washington have decided to take a different approach to economic development.
In addition to working on projects to bring in business, they will also begin to develop projects to bring in more people.
One of the biggest issues is lack of housing.
Executive Director of the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation, Bryant Niehoff, says the county is working on applying for a READI grant from the state.
READI stands for Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative.
Niehoff says the state is making $500 million in grants available to improve quality of place, workforce development, talent attraction, and entrepreneurship.
