A public informational meeting was held last night about the next phase of the HWY 50 project.
The next phase will include the roadway from SE 3rd Street to State Street in Washington.
VS Engineer Nick Jahn says construction will take some time…
This phase of the project will cost about $9.5 million and will be funded with federal dollars.
The project is currently in the design stage with construction expected to get underway in 2023.
Jahn says the new stretch of highway will have a format similar to that on the west end, with some changes past SR 257…
The next phase of the project will be done in two portions.
The area from SE 3rd Street to SR 257 will be completed first. Once completed, crews will begin work on the area between SR 257 and State Street.
More public informational meetings will be held as the project moves along.
