Holcomb Administration files appeal for unemployment ruling

The Holcomb administration has filed the expected appeal of a Marion County Judge’s order to restart the 300-dollar a week federal unemployment payments.
The governor halted the add-on to jobless benefits, concluding that the money from the Federal CARES Act had become a hindrance to Indiana’s recovery from the pandemic by giving workers an incentive to not return to work.
The state’s appeal argues that the five private citizens who filed the original suit had no right to do that.
And that the law doesn’t require Indiana to take part in the federal program.
