All Hoosiers, regardless of vaccination status, should wear masks in public indoor places. That’s what the Indiana Department of Health recommended on Friday during a press conference.
Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lindsay Weaver said COVID cases are on the rise once again across Indiana, and pointed out concerns led by the Delta variant of the virus.
They stopped short of enforcing another statewide mask mandate.
Dr. Box says they will leave it up to individual school districts to determine their mask policies.
Administrators will be required to notify the state health department of any positive test results involving students or staff. The IDH will also soon be adding a tab on its online dashboard showing how successful Indiana’s long-term care facilities have been at getting residents and staff members vaccinated.
