Deborah Stanczak

Deborah V. “Debbie” Stanczak 67, of Petersburg, went into eternal rest on Sunday, August 1, 2021 while surrounded by her loving family.
Debbie was born in Toronto, Canada on August 23, 1953 to the late Melbourne Williams and Elsie Bailey Williams. Debbie was married to John R. Stanczak on August 18, 1973 and they spent 51 years in love.
Debbie was employed by Vincennes University forover 21 years as the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. She graduated IU with a Master’s degree. Debbie looked forward to trips to Disney, and loved all animals (especially her chickens, ducks, and geese). She was a child of God, loved her family with all her heart, an avid reader, loved knitting, cooking, gardening, and of course shopping.
In Debbie’s younger years she was quite the horsewoman. She spent a great amount of time with her horses and especially her appaloosa. She competed in many horse shows and won Miss Appaloosa USA1969 and Miss California Appaloosa State Queen 1970.
Debbie is survived by; her loving husband, John R. Stanczak; adoring children, Shanni Simmons (Jay), Justin Stanczak (Julie), Elsa Benamar (Ali), and Chris Beavers (Tamara); grandchildren, Connor Brock, Olivia Simmons, Amaris Simmons, Emma Stanczak, Ethan StanczakElora Stanczak, Mila Benamar, Emmett Benamar, and Ruby Benamar; and siblings, Ann Dalke, Melbourne “Sonny” Williams, and Clint Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by; her parents; and a sister, Jackie Hamm.
There will be a visitation held on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:50 P.M. at Gill Funeral Home with a private graveside service held afterwards that will be immediate family only. You may leave the family online condolences at www.gillsince1872.com.
The family requests that visitors to the visitation at Gill Funeral Home wear masks.
