The Daviess County Commissioners met with a short agenda Tuesday morning. The board heard from new Highway Supervisor Chris Watts. Watts reported that Cannelburg road crews are working on excavating areas on CR 100 N to CR 200 N.
Watts also reported that the bridge closure that was originally scheduled for Monday will now begin today. The road will be closed approximately ¾ mile north of CR 100 N for the next three months for a bridge replacement. Crews will also soon close CR 200 N at the intersection with Cannelburg Road in the coming weeks.
In other business, the board reviewed the request from Farbest Foods to widen 1200 E between 600 North and 700 North from 15 feet to 20 feet. The board agreed to pass the project onto the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation.
The Commissioners also accepted a bid in the amount of $80,000 for the former Old National Bank building.
Lastly, the board passed a petition to vacate public roadway on the north part of 4th Street in Maysville. The property belonged to Dan Grannan whose remains were found in that area last year. The action was requested so the estate could be sold.
