Local sex offenders will now have to pay a fee to register in Daviess County.
Daviess County officials have passed a new ordinance that will require sex offenders to pay an annual fee when registering as required by law.
Offenders will now pay a $50 annual fee and will be charged $5 for a change of address or change of employment.
State law caps the fee at $50.
The money collected will go towards the training of local officers.
Officials from the Daviess County Security Center say the fee is similar to that in surrounding counties.
Over 80 counties in the state currently require fees for registering as a sex offender.
