Phyllis Shaw

Phyllis (Phyl) Harding Shaw, 83 of Vincennes went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on August 23, 2021.

Phyl was born at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI on March 31, 1938 to Morris Warner Harding and Adriana Everars Harding and lived her childhood years at Gun Lake near Shelbyville, MI.

Phyl worked as an LPN in Pediatrics until marrying Ronald Shaw and later becoming a full- time homemaker and mother of three.  Phyl worked tirelessly throughout her life to spread the love of Jesus Christ.  She volunteered for many years at the Southwest Regional Youth Village and Knox County Jail spreading the word of God’s unending love and gift of salvation.  Her true delight in life was the building and growing of Ark of Safety Ministries.  As co-founder, she worked alongside her husband joining with other ministries seeking and experiencing the riches of God’s glory.  She served with a true servants’ heart.  Phyl never missed an opportunity to bake, cook or serve her friends, family and the needy alike a hot meal or homemade dessert.  During the last year, she resided at Fox Ridge Links Condos and forged many new friendships.  She and her new-found friends enjoyed coffee and lunches on regular basis.  SHE.  LOVED.  PEOPLE.

Phyl is survived by her three children and their families; Matthew Shaw and his wife, Lori of Pensacola, FL, Nathan Shaw and his wife, Kate of West Chester, OH, Karen Lane and her Fiancé, Brian Gardner of Vincennes, IN; several grandchildren, Abbey Hill, Brianna Webb, Laurel Webb, Brice Carmichael, Owen Shaw, Luke Shaw and a great grandson, Tripp Champion; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ronald B. Shaw and her siblings, Diane Herminett, Gordon Harding, and Patricia Harding.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 27th at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St., Vincennes, IN with Nathan Shaw officiating.  Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9am to 11am with the service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Celebrate Recovery- Vincennes, make check payable to ACCM 1134 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591.

Out of respect to all, masks are requested in the funeral home and at the grave site.  Social distancing will be observed.
