covid-19-3

The surging COVID-19  pandemic in Indiana is now back to case levels not seen since last January.  Wednesday, Indiana reported more than 5,000 new COVID cases.  That is the most cases reported in a single day since January 10.   Hospitals around the state have reported a 30% jump in the number of cases being reported in just the past week.  Deaconess Hospital in Evansville reports that every COVID patient on a ventilator is unvaccinated.   Sixteen Hoosier counties are now in the highest-risk red category, and only nine counties are in yellow…the other sixty-seven counties are all in the second-highest orange category.   In southwest Indiana, Knox, Gibson, Posey, Warrick, Spencer, Lawrence, and Perry Counties are all in red status.  Daviess, Martin, Pike, and Dubois Counties are all in the orange category.  The only county in the area in yellow is Monroe County.
The Daviess County Health Department latest report shows 71 new confirmed COVID cases in Daviess County since Monday.  Sixty-three of those individuals were not vaccinated.  Daviess County’s positivity rate is 9.61%.   Knox County officials report 126 new cases and a positivity rate of 23.2%.   In Dubois County, 46 new cases have been reported with a 23.7 positivity rate.
