Mary Lou (Weibel) Zimmerman, 76, passed away at her residence Saturday, August 21, 2021. Mary was born in Washington, Indiana, March 15, 1945, to Blanche (Chadd) Weibel and James Weibel. She married Bernard Bennett on February 20, 1965. He passed away September 30, 1977. On October 7, 1988, She married Jerry Zimmerman. Jerry passed away April 5, 2007.
Mary was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School. She worked at the Great Scott Supermarket in Terre Haute and the UniRoyal Rubber Company in Washington prior to her retirement. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, and she loved playing dice and cards. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Those who now cherish Mary’s memory are her daughters: Becky (Francis) Whitworth of Loogootee; and Julie Cathy Harris of Terre Haute. Mary cherished her grandchildren: Nick (Heather) Shuetz; Nathan Shuetz; Emily Whitworth; Jonathon Whitworth; Keyosha Cathy; Trent Cathy; and Terrika (Cathy) Haggard. Mary leaves sisters: Janet (John Patrick) Grannan of Washington; Carolyn (Stephen) Smith of Colorado City, Texas; and Marilyn (Bill) Pinkston of Terre Haute.
During her life, Mary mourned the loss of her parents, Della Blanche (Showalter) Weibel and James Weibel; her first husband, Bernard Bennett; her second husband, Jerry Zimmerman; half-brother, Ken Showalter; brother, Don Weibel; and sisters, Barbara Opell, Ruth Marie Gilmore, and Wilma Jean Weibel, and Nancy Kay DeVore.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Elara Caring Hospice, 1212 S. 3rd Street, Terre Haute IN 47802.
