There are plans to expand the jail in Knox County, but a recent plan laid out in how to do that has hit a snag with county leaders.
Before the pandemic hit, county leaders passed a small tax increase in order to pay for the jail expansion.
It would raise over 21-million-dollars over the next 20 years.
The problem is with material costs and other expenses increasing because of impacts from the pandemic.
The expansion project now would cost roughly 31-million which is 10-million over budget.
County leaders will meet this week to figure out how to move forward.
