City Council introduces new ordinances

city-of-washington-6

At last night’s Washington City Council Meeting, the Council heard from Greg Jones of the Southern Indiana Development Corporation as he closed out the COVID Response Grant. Jones and Mayor Rhoads said the $256,000 had helped 43 local businesses through the stress of the pandemic.
The Council also introduced two new ordinances. One ordinance will raise the fee for requesting a special meeting of the City Plan Commission, and the other would bring the City Animal Shelter in compliance with new state rules raising the fees to cover spaying and neutering animals adopted out of the Animal Shelter.
A third ordinance was passed after rules were suspended. The ordinance realigned the job descriptions in the Street Department allowing for the employment of a new laborer.
At the end of the meeting, the Mayor reminded everyone of the 20th Century Chevy CarFest and Cruiz-in is set for this weekend.
