The Daviess County Board of Commissioners heard from the Highway Department at yesterday’s meeting.
Daviess County Highway Supervisor Chris Winkler gave an update on area highway projects. Winkler reminded everyone that 900 East at 200 North is currently closed to all traffic due to work on the bridge. That closure will be in place for the next couple of months as they replace the current structure.
Winkler also reported that crews are currently in the engineering phase for the Montgomery Bridge Project. They hope to have those plans completed by December of 2020 and award bids the following spring.
On Tuesday, the Daviess County Commissioners heard from the SDIC regarding the COVID Response grant that was awarded to the county. Of the $250,000 that was awarded, $230,000 went out to county business for COVID relief.
The deadline for the grant was today, so the remaining $20,000 was deobligated.
The grant helped 23 county businesses and thus 163 employee’s total.
