The Barr-Reeve Vikings volleyball team continued its dominance of Blue Chip opponents with a four-set win over South Knox. B-R posted a 25-19, 25-10, 22-25 and a 25-17 win at New Viking Arena on Thursday.
The Washington Hatchet Boys Soccer team captured a 2 to 1 win over Boonville last night at the Sports Complex 2 to 1 on Coaches vs Cancer night. The Hatchets go to 6 and 5 with a doubleheader coming up tomorrow traveling to Mt Vernon for games against North Posey and Mt Vernon. Kickoff is set for 11:30am tomorrow morning.
The Barr-Reeve Vikings honored Alexis Bauer as the sole soccer senior at last night’s game against the Bloomfield Cardinals. The Vikings were defeated 6-1. The Viking goal was scored by Nolan McCain with great service from Braxton Graber.
The Lady Hatchet Golf team finished out their regular season with a second place finish at home against Barr Reeve and Lincoln with a team score of 206. Hatchets were lead by Senior Kenli Barber with a career best 42, and sophomore Channey Clark was close behind matching her career low of 43. Madi Dalton 57, Paige Byrd 64, and Maddie Jones 69 rounded out the scores.
Lady Hatchets will be right in the mix this Saturday at sectional.

Vincennes Lincoln hosts one of the biggest homecoming celebrations in the state tonight as they take on Castle. The Alices mourn the loss of their longtime broadcaster Dave Young who called over 4000 games in his illustrious career. Dave was truly one of the best in the field, and will be missed by all who knew him. RIP Dave Young
The Cincinnati Reds snapped a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. With St. Louis off Thursday, the Reds gained a half game on the Cardinals for the final National League wild card berth and trail St. Louis by one game. Cincinnati begins a crucial series with the Dodgers tonight at Great American Ball Park. First pitch is set for 7:10pm, catch live coverage on the General 95.9 / 101.3fm.
The Philadelphia Phillies roared back from an early 7-0 deficit to beat the Cubs 17-8. Chicago scored seven in the third inning before Philly ended the game on a 17-1 run.
The IndyCar Series is set for this weekend near Monterey, California. Alex Palou (Puh-low) enters the weekend with a 25-point lead in the standings over Arrow McLaren SP star Pato O’Ward. Palou won from the pole last weekend at Portland despite falling to 16th as a result of avoiding a first lap incident. The 24-year-old Spaniard has won a series-high three times this season, which is his first with Chip Ganassi Racing. Former series champions Josef Newgarden and Scott Dixon lurk in third and fourth in the standings, 34 and 49 points back, respectively. The Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey will go green Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Eastern.
Week 3 of the college football season includes some huge non-conference battles for in-state teams. Indiana hosts eighth-ranked Cincinnati in a showdown in Bloomington. The Bearcats are favored by a field goal for Saturday’s noon kickoff at Memorial Stadium. Notre Dame and Purdue reignite their rivalry at 2:30 in South Bend in the battle for the Shillelagh Trophy. Both teams are 2-0, and the 12th-ranked Fighting Irish are 7.5-point favorites.
