The community is mourning the loss of a local broadcaster. Dave Young passed away on Thursday at the age of 68.
Young dedicated a total of 48 years to the broadcast field. He started at Vincennes University and then went WCBK in Martinsville before returning to Vincennes in 1988.
Upon his return, Young helped establish a new radio station by hosting a morning show and becoming the voice of the Vincennes Alice’s. Young called around 3,000 games for Lincoln High School including the Vincennes Lincoln State Championship baseball game in 2002.
He was awarded several media awards which most notably included the 2017-2018 IHSAA Distinguished Media Service Award and his 2020 induction into the Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Excellence.
Friends may visit with Dave’s family from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Vincennes.
