The Martin County Sheriff’s Office recently donated 60 tourniquets to Martin County Schools.
Chief Deputy Josh Greene and Major Keith Keller met yesterday with officials from the Shoals and Loogootee Community Schools to donate the tourniquets that were purchased by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office at no cost to taxpayers.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office says these tourniquets will be placed throughout the schools.
In the event of an emergency, whether it be an injury in woodshop class, an athletic event, or an active shooter, school staff and emergency personnel will have access to them.
Shoals and Loogootee Community Schools staff members were also trained on when and how to apply the tourniquets.
The office says they hope none of these tourniquets are ever used at the schools, but it’s good knowing that if one would ever be needed, they would be available, easily accessible, and potentially save a life.
