The St. Louis Cardinals dominated the Milwaukee Brewers 10-2 and have won 11 straight games. The Red Birds scored six runs over the first two innings, starting with a Tyler O’Neill two-run homer in the first inning. O’Neill finished with three RBI after a second inning double.  The Cardinals lead the Reds and Phillies by four and a half games for the final National League wild card spot.

Rain wreaked havoc on games across the Midwest Wednesday. The Pirates and Reds had their game postponed due to inclement weather. The White Sox and Tigers were rained out in Detroit, as were the Royals and Indians in Cleveland. All three games will be made up Monday, September 27th, which was a previously scheduled off day. The White Sox and Indians begin a five-game series with a doubleheader Thursday at Progressive Field. With one win, Chicago would clinch the American League Central title for the first time since 2008.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz did not practice Wednesday as the Colts prepared for the defending AFC South champion Tennessee Titans. Coach Frank Reich would not commit to Jacob Eason getting the start if Wentz cannot play. Veteran Brett Hundley is on Indy’s practice squad and played sparingly in the preseason. The 28-year-old Hundley started nine games for the Green Bay Packers in 2017. Wentz said he and the training staff are throwing the kitchen sink at both of his sprained ankles trying to get the swelling down, and that he has improved since Monday. Indianapolis will try to avoid an 0-3 start Sunday at Tennessee.
