Audrey L. Butler, 87, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, September 21, 2021. Her family was by her side. Audrey was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Arthur and Virgil (Edwards) Bartesko, May 29, 1934. Audrey married the love of her life, Joseph M. Butler, on November 19, 1955. They shared their lives and made a home together until Joseph’s passing in 2013.
Audrey was a homemaker who loved sewing and needlework. She was a fan of the soap operas. Audrey was of the Catholic faith and a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
Those who are left to cherish Audrey’s memory are: her daughters, Sandra Hilgeman of Otwell, Marie (Mike) Smith of Winslow, and Lisa Small of Washington; her son, Louis (Debbie) Butler of Washington; a sister, Kate Bades of Brookville. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
During her lifetime, Audrey mourned the loss of her parents, Arthur and Virgil Bartesko, and son-in-law, John Hilgeman.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to one of Audrey’s favorite organizations: Helping Hearts Hospice, 1314 East Walnut Street, Washington, Indiana 47501, or Friends for Animals, PO Box 402, Washington, Indiana 47501.
A graveside service was held Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the St. John Cemetery. Yvonne Evans was the officiant.
