Thursday Morning Sports Report

The Washington boys tennis team advanced to the Sectional championship with a 5-0 shut-out win over Vincennes Rivet.  The Hatchets will now face South Knox for the championship, after the Spartans upset the host Alices in the other semi final yesterday 3 to 2.  Match time is 5pm tonight. 

 

North Daviess cruised to a 5-0 shut out victory over White River Valley.  The Cougars will now meet Bloomfield for the North Daviess championship tonight at 4:30pm.  Bloomfield eliminated Linton 4 to 1 yesterday. 

 

Loogootee edged out NE Dubois 3-2 to advance.  Loogootee awaits the winner of Barr Reeve and Paoli tonight for the championship at Loogootee on Saturday. 

 
 

The Barr Reeve Volleyball team will take on North Knox tonight.  Catch live coverage at 7pm on the General 95.9 / 101.3fm.  Washington Volleyball travels to Mitchell at 6pm. 

 
Washington girls soccer wraps up the regular season at home against Southridge at the Sports Complex.   

 

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 4-0 Wednesday night to snap the Red Birds’ 17-game winning streak. Before Wednesday, the Cards last lost September 10th, the longest winning streak in team history.  In Pittsburgh, Willson Contreras drove in all three runs and the Chicago Cubs beat the Pirates 3-2. A two-run double by Contreras gave the Cubs a lead they would not relinquish, as Chicago snapped a seven-game skid.  The Chicago White Sox allowed just four hits en route to a 6-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Gavin Sheets homered for the second straight night and added an RBI single to finish with three RBI and help complete the two-game sweep. Tim Anderson went deep in the seventh inning to pad the lead.  The Reds wrap up their season with a road trip to Pittsburgh for three games this weekend against the Pirates.
