A Washington, Indiana police officer has been named Indiana Officer of the Year.
Thursday it was announced that Washington Police Department’s Detective Sergeant Brandon Garland was named Officer of the Year by the Indiana Prosecuting Attorney’s Council. Garland was nominated by Daviess County Prosecutor Dan Murrie., who presented Garland with the award Thursday afternoon. Murrie praised Garland for his tireless work in trying to remove drugs from the community. According to the County Prosecutor, Garland has generated hundreds of drug cases in the past three years including 45 large level two cases. The Washington Police Department praised Garland’s hard work along with his selflessness and dedication to the Department. The Department said Garland has put in countless hours ensuring the safety and security of the Washington community. Garland will also be recognized a special recognition ceremony to be held in Indianapolis on December 6. Congratulations to WPD Detective Sergeant Brandon Garland, Indiana’s Officer of the Year.
