Fugitive arrested in Gibson County

An Evansville man was arrested on several charges yesterday after fleeing police and causing a school lockdown.
On Thursday, at around 7:15 pm, Gibson County Central Dispatch received a theft report from Menards in Princeton. Police later located the vehicle the subject was driving and attempted to stop the driver.
Upon trying to stop the vehicle, a pursuit ensued down US 41 from Fort Branch. Stop sticks were set up, but the driver missed them and instead struck a nearby patrol car before continuing down the road. A perimeter was then set up to locate the driver, but he was nowhere to be found.
Yesterday morning, the South Gibson School Corporation, in an abundance of caution, made the decision to close the schools in the area not knowing if the fleeing individual was still around. As a result, multiple concerned citizens called police around 7:20 am to report a suspicious male walking on I-69 near I-64.
Officers located the suspect and after a brief roadside investigation, 33-year-old Logan Robert Brandewie of Evansville was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail.
He is currently being held at the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office and is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Scheduled Substance, Fleeing Law Enforcement in a Vehicle, Fleeing Law Enforcement on Foot, Criminal Recklessness with a Vehicle, Criminal Mischief, Driving While Suspended with a Prior, and False Informing.
He is also being held on a Felony warrant out of Vanderburgh County.
Police say this is an ongoing investigation, and more charges are anticipated.
