Washington’s Board of Public Works and Safety met after the Council meeting and approved a request from the City’s Utility Department to install a call system service that would contact customers who are delinquent and in danger of being disconnected. The Board also heard a request from the Liverpool Festival Committee to close East Third Street from South Street to VanTrees Street from 4-8 the evening of Friday, Nov. 19. The second request was to close Main Street from East 4th to East 1st from 8-2 on Saturday, Nov. 20. The committee also requested to have a “community fire pit” events planned the evening of Nov. 19, at the Jay Myers parking lot. The Board was generally favorable to the requests, but had some concerns about the fire pit, and the effect the street closings would have on some downtown businesses. The Board asked the Festival Committee to check with the businesses. Mayor Rhoads said he would check into the fire pit situation.
