Local Cross Country Runners are preparing this week for the semi-state in Brown County on Saturday. The Barr-Reeve Girls Team qualified with a 5th place finish at Pride’s Creek on Saturday. In the boys race Colton Stoll also qualified to run at Semi-State as he finished in 22nd place to lead the Vikings. And Washington’s Matt Gray also advanced to the semi state with a 10th place individual finish in the regionals on Saturday. The Cross Country semi-state begins at 11:30am Saturday morning in beautiful Brown County.
The Washington Football Booster Club will be hosting a night out Saturday at the Washington High School Auditorium. The event is a Mysterious Evening with Mentalist Daniel Cullen. Show starts at 7pm and doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets will be sold at the door for 20 dollars and proceeds will go to the Football team. Don’t miss this fun night out Saturday in Washington.
The Daviess County YMCA is hosting a Pumpkin Swim on Saturday for kids ages 3 to 12. Swimmers will be able to dive into the YMCA Pool and pick a pumpkin. Students will then decorate the pumpkin for a goody bag full of prizes. The cost is 5 dollars for members and 10 dollars for non-members. It is limited to the first 30 kids. The Pumpkin Swim will be on Saturday from 11 to 12:30pm at the YMCA Indoor Pool.
The Indiana Pacers open the regular season tonight in Charlotte against the Hornets. The Blue and Gold will look to bounce back after a lackluster season that saw the team lose in the NBA’s Play-In Tournament. Rick Carlisle’s second tenure as Pacers head coach officially begins, and his team will be without two starters. T.J. Warren is out indefinitely with a foot injury, and Caris LeVert will miss at least the first four games with a back injury.
The Indianapolis Colts activated quarterback Sam Ehlinger from injured reserve and waived quarterback Jacob Eason. The 2020 fourth round pick was the backup to start the season, and played in the second game when Carson Wentz left with an ankle sprain. Eason threw an interception on his second career snap in a loss to the Rams and has not played since. Ehlinger was drafted in the sixth round earlier this year, but went on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in the preseason.
In the Baseball playoffs, the Dodgers held on at home for a victory over the Braves 6 to 5. Atlanta still owns a 2 to 1 series advantage. The series continues tonight at 8pm with game four in Los Angeles.
The Astros evened the American League Series by beating the Red Sox 9 to 2 yesterday. The series is now tied at 2 apiece, with game five coming up today at 5pm in Boston.
