The Washington Hatchets fell in the opening round of the Football sectionals on Friday night at home to Edgewood 16 to nothing. The Hatchets trailed just 7-0 heading into the fourth quarter. 

North Daviess lost to Springs Valley in the opening sectional game 27 to 6.  The Cougars end the year at 4 and 6.

PIke Central dropped their sectional opener to Brown County 47 to 20

Vincennes Lincoln advanced with a 48 to 20 win over Princeton

Jasper was upset by Northview 28 to 14

North Knox advanced with a 31 to 14 win over South Spencer

Colton Stoll from Barr Reeve finished with a time of 17:20 at the Boys Cross Country Semi State on Saturday.  The time would not be enough to advance, but a nice run for Stoll.  Washington’s Matt Gray ended the race with a  time of 18:28, again not enough to advance, but a nice run for the Hatchet Senior.  The South Knox boys finished 17th as a team.

In the Girls Cross Country semi state, Barr Reeve finished 18th on the day.  Top finisher for Barr Reeve was Abby Ballengee.  Pike Central’s Xavery Wiseman becomes the first runner in school history to advance to state with a 12th place finish on the day.  Weisman is just a freshman and will compete at state this weekend.  The South Knox girls finished ninth as a team.  

Michael Pittman Jr. pulled in a 28-yard touchdown catch with under three minutes to go to help the Indianapolis Colts clinch a 30-18 victory over the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night in a driving rainstorm. Indianapolis overcame an early 9-0 deficit and forced four turnovers en route to its second win in a row and third in four games. Carson Wentz threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another. Jonathan Taylor rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown, and Pittman ended with four catches for 105 yards and a score. Indianapolis improved to 3-4, but the Colts are still two games back of Tennessee for the AFC South lead. The Colts host the Titans in a division showdown next Sunday.
The Indiana Pacers host the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks Monday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Blue and Gold earned their first win of the young season Saturday night with a 102-91 overtime victory over the Miami Heat, led by 19 points from rookie guard Chris Duarte. The 13th pick in the 2021 Draft is averaging 20.3 points through his first three career games. Indiana is 1-2, while Milwaukee is 2-1 and is coming off a Saturday night win over the Spurs. The Bucks have beat the Pacers in four straight matchups and are favored by three for Monday night’s 7 p.m. Eastern tipoff in downtown Indy.
Notre Dame jumped up two spots to number 11 in the college football AP Top 25 after handling USC Saturday night in South Bend. The Fighting Irish defeated the Trojans 31-16 behind 138 yards and two touchdowns from running back Kyren Williams. Notre Dame is 6-1 and hosts North Carolina Saturday. Purdue’s stay in the top-25 was short lived after the Boilermakers lost to Wisconsin 30-13 at home. The Boilers are 4-3 and plays at Nebraska this weekend. Indiana is 2-5 after being blown out by Ohio State, and the Hoosiers play at Maryland Saturday in a crucial game for their bowl hopes.
