Veterans Day Ceremony Brings Big Crowd

A good crowd gathered inside the Daviess County Courthouse on a rainy day to salute and honor local heroes on .
The program was a joint effort from the Washington VFW and American Legion. It featured several great speakers, the presentation of the colors, the National Anthem, a word from Mayor Dave Rhoads, and it wrapped up with the playing of TAPS and a 21-gun salute.
The keynote speaker was Maureen Sims-Strong who worked her way up the ranks as a woman and spoke about struggles she battled along the way.
She served as a recruiter and spoke about what an honor it was to maintain that role and what it meant to her…

Several school students also filled the upstairs of the rotunda for the ceremony.
