Washington Catholic fell at home to North Central 61-28.
North Knox suffered their first loss in a close one to Linton 40-38.
Shoals lost to Bloomfield 34-31.
North Daviess is at home tonight against Wood Memorial.
Pike Central will be at South Knox.
The high school football tournament moves into the regional rounds this weekend. Gibson Southern continues their dominance in class 3A and will host Lawrenceburg tomorrow. Kick off is set for 5:00 pm.
In a busy night of college basketball, Purdue will take on Indiana State at 8:30 pm. Eastern in an in-state matchup at Mackey Arena. The seventh-ranked Boilermakers beat ISU by 12 last season and started the season with a 29-point win over Bellarmine Tuesday night. The Indiana Hoosiers host upset minded Northern Illinois in Bloomington. The Huskies opened the season Tuesday night with a shocking victory at Washington, while the Hoosiers escaped with a 68-62 victory over Eastern Michigan in the season opener. IU is favored by 22.5 points over NIU with the game getting underway at 7 p.m. Butler welcomes Central Arkansas to Hinkle Fieldhouse for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff. The Bulldogs beat IUPUI Tuesday night and are favored by 22.5. Notre Dame takes the court for the first time this season Saturday at noon when the Fighting Irish host Cal State Northridge.
Purdue football will attempt to pull off another major upset Saturday when the 19th ranked Boilermakers take on number four Ohio State in Columbus. The Boilers are ranked in the College Football Playoff rankings for the first time ever after defeating then-number three Michigan State last week. Purdue is 6-3, and the Boilers are 21-point underdogs for the 3:30 p.m. Eastern kick at the Horseshoe. Ninth-ranked Notre Dame plays at Virginia Saturday night. The Fighting Irish are 8-1, while Virginia is 6-3. Notre Dame is favored by 5.5 points over the Cavaliers, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. Both Purdue-Ohio State and Notre Dame-Virginia will air nationally on ABC. Indiana will look for its first Big Ten win of the season when the Hoosiers face Rutgers in Bloomington. IU is favored by a touchdown over the Scarlet Knights with kickoff at noon. Coach Tom Allen said he expects Indiana to have multiple quarterbacks ready. Both Michael Penix Jr. and backup Jack Tuttle have missed multiple games with injuries.
The Indianapolis Colts begin a crucial four-game stretch Sunday when they host division foe Jacksonville at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Colts have won three out of four to improve to 4-5, and are coming off a mini-bye week after defeating the Jets last Thursday. Jacksonville is 2-6, but the Jaguars have won two out of three and are coming off a stunning 9-6 upset of the Buffalo Bills last week. Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer returns to coach in Indianapolis for the first time since leading the Buckeyes to the 2018 Big Ten Championship Game. T.Y. Hilton was a full participant at practice Thursday after the wide receiver missed last week’s win with a concussion. Quarterback Carson Wentz was limited with a non-COVID illness. The Colts are favored by 10.5 points, with kickoff at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Malcolm Brogdon scored 30 points and the Indiana Pacers pulled off a 111-100 road win over the Utah Jazz. Brogdon added nine rebounds to go with his season-high in points, as the Blue and Gold handed the Jazz their first home loss of the season. T.J. McConnell had 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists off the bench, while former Butler standout Kelan Martin scored 14. Indiana closed out the four-game road trip 2-2 and 5-8 overall. The Pacers outrebounded the Jazz 53-37 and had 18 second chance points. Myles Turner contributed 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks, but was ejected late in the fourth quarter after a scuffle with Rudy Gobert. Three Jazz players including Gobert were tossed as well. Indiana was without Caris LeVert for the second straight night due to lower back soreness. The Pacers return home to play the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday night.
