Francis “Frank” Cleybourn Sterling, 84, passed away November 24, 2021 in Evansville, IN. He was born April 8, 1937 in Shoals, IN to Fielding and Minnie (Rowe) Sterling. Frank served in the United States Navy and retired after 22 years. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He went on the Honor Flight of Southwest Indiana. He was a member of the Petersburg VFW Post #3587, Washington American Legion Post #121, and the Prince Army of Indiana. He was also active with the Blue Star Mothers of America. Frank was an avid outdoorsman and loved and lodged many animals. He adored and cherished his grandsons. He was always known for having a smile on his face, being a jokester, and never knew a stranger. He loved music and played harmonica for many karaoke performances. He was also a member of the band Country Rebels.
Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Genevieve Sterling; daughter, Carmen Sterling; son, Frank Watkins; grandsons, Jeffrey Francis (Crystal) Decker and James Gerald (LeAnna) Decker; 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Sterling; and sisters, Mary Jane Doane, Ernestine Earl, and Barbara Frey.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
