DELPHI, Ind. — Who is “anthony_shots”? Investigators with Indiana State Police and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office are not sure yet, but they believe they may be connected to the deaths of Abby Williams and Libby German from 2017.
Sgt. Jeremy Piers with ISP says the fictitious social media handle was used by someone from 2016 to 2017 and used a method known as “catfishing” to talk with people using fake images and pretending to be someone else.
“This profile was being used from 2016 to 2017 on social media applications including, but not limited to, Snapchat and Instagram,” said Sgt. Piers. “The fictitious ‘anthony_shots’ profile used images of a known male model and portrayed himself as being extremely wealthy and owning numerous sports cars.”
Piers said they have identified the male model in the photos the profile used and have made clear that the model in the photos is not the person of interest in the case.
“The creator of the fictitious profile used this information while communicating with juvenile females to solicit nude images, obtain their address, and attempt to meet with them,” Piers added.
Investigators say it’s possible Abby and Libby fell victim to this day they went missing back on February 13th, 2017. They were found dead the next day not far from the Monon High Bridge near Delphi.
In order to know this for sure though, detectives are asking you to look at the fake photos the creator used and contact them if you ever had any contact with the “anthony_shots” profile, or if you know someone who has.
