The Barr Reeve Lady Vikings grabbed a nice win on the road last night over Wood Memorial 31-27. The Lady Vikes go to 2-6 on the season and play Thursday at North Daviess.
Pike Central lost to South Spencer 61-40
North Knox defeated White River Valley 56-28.
The Washington Lady Hatchets will play at home tonight against Loogootee at the Hatchet House. Washington will recognize Coach Gretchen Miles on her 200 career wins, and Kencia Lavasseur and Alaina Thorne on their 1,000 career points Before the varsity game which will tip off at 7pm tonight. A reception will follow the game in the foyer outside the auditorium at the school.

The 7th Grade Hatchet boys basketball team improved to 5-1 with at 46-27 Victory over the Jasper Wildcats Monday Night. Levi Burkemper and Aiden Boyd led the way for the Hatchets with 16 and 15 points. Drew Jones hit a pair of 3 pointers to finish with 6, Brody Armes had 5 and Jack Brower added 4. The 7th grade Hatchets travel to Forrest Park on Thursday.
The 8th Grade Hatchets remained perfect on the season with a 53-40 win over Jasper. The now 6-0 Hatchets were lead by Cordell Turner with 23 points, Xavion Lesure 14 and Brody Isza 10. Trey James added 4 and Cooper Wright 2. The 8th grade boys travel to Forrest Park Thursday night.
The modern-day NFL is all about passing. It’s a quarterback’s league and without a good QB, it’s hard to succeed in the NFL these days. But last night in Buffalo it was really windy which made throwing the ball a bit tricky. The Patriots only had three pass attempts. Despite that, they still won the game 14-10. It’s only the third time in NFL history a team has only had three pass attempts, with 1968 being the last time it happened. A 64-yard run by running back Damien Harrison helped the Pats get the victory. Kevin Harlan had the call on Westwood One.
The finalists for the Heisman Trophy were announced on Monday. The award goes to the best player in college football each year. Alabama Quarterback Bryce Young, Pitt Quarterback, Kenny Pickett, Ohio State Quarterback C.J. Stroud, and Michigan Defensive End Aida Hutchinson are the four finalists. Alabama’s Bryce Young is the favorite. Meanwhile Michigan’s Aida Hutchinson would be the first defensive player to win the award since Charles Woodson in 1997 if he’s declared the winner.
Medina Spirit, the horse that won the Kentucky Derby has died. Owner Bob Baffert said the 3-year-old horse suffered a heart attack. Medina Spirit’s Kentucky Derby win this summer was called into question due to a positive drug test following the race. A full medical exam will take place to determine the exact cause of death.
