The Washington Lady Hatchets competed in the top tournament in the state yesterday in the Hall of Fame Classic at New Castle. Washington opened the day against top ranked South Bend Washington and fell to a very good team 56-28. In the consolation round, the Lady Hatchets suffered a loss to Franklin 58-47. Washington drops to 13-3 on the season and will travel to Southridge on Tuesday. Congratulations to Alaina Thorne and Kencia Lavasseur who were both named to the all-tournament team. Thorne also received the Jennings Scholarship in the girls tournament valued at $1500.
At the Bobcat of Daviess County Boys Classic at North Daviess yesterday, Barr Reeve fell to Ft Wayne Blackhawk 50-39. North Daviess topped South Knox 33-29. Brownstown Central edged out Loogootee 69-64. And Paoli over Rock Creek 62-54. Final round of games are set for today, South Knox plays Rock Creek at 3pm, Paoli and North Daviess meet at 4:30pm, Loogootee faces Barr Reeve at 6pm, with live coverage at 5:45pm on the General 95.9 / 101.3fm, and the championship will put Ft Wayne Blackhawk against Brownstown Central.

Barr Reeve split a pair at the Toby Yoho Classic at Eastern Greene. The Lady Vikings defeated Southwestern 34-32, Then lost to Owen Valley 49-26.
North Knox beat South Knox 52-41, then lost a close one to Brownstown Central 46-44
South Knox topped Trinity Lutheran 68-56.
Loogootee girls lost to Eastern Greene 51-27, then fell to Paoli 47-42
Vincennes Lincoln beat Pike 69-58, but lost to Silver Creek 65-45.
It was Vincennes Rivet over Jasper 51-42.
In college basketball, Purdue concluded its non-conference slate with a 104-90 win over Nicholls on Wednesday. The Boilermakers showcased the offense with 55 first half points, lead by Zach Edey’s 21 in 16 minutes. Purdue resumes Big Ten play on Monday as the Wisconsin Badgers make the trip to Mackey Arena. At Hinkle Fieldhouse, Butler survived a late Depaul run to win 63-59. Indiana’s non-conference schedule ended with a cancellation due to covid issues amongst the UNC Asheville program. The Hoosier’s restart conference play on Sunday in State College.
The Indiana Pacers fell on Wednesday night at home to Charlotte, 116-108. Caris Levert paced Indiana in the scoring category with 27 points, on 8-23 shooting. Indiana did not lead after the first quarter when they lead 7-5. The Pacers cut the lead down to four in the fourth quarter, but a quick Hornets’ run buried the blue and gold. Terry Rozier had a game-high 35 points in the victory. Indiana is now 14-21, and will host Chicago for a New Year’s Eve matinee on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
