Phyllis M. Miles

Phyllis M. Miles, 72, passed away at 11:30 pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at The Villages at Oakridge. Phyllis was born on August 24, 1949, in Washington, IN and was the daughter of Louie and Mary (O’Brien) Nolan. She married Thomas J. “Tommy” Miles on June 5, 1976, and he preceded her in death on February 25, 2014.
Phyllis was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and taught school for forty-two years in the Washington community. Phyllis was involved in many things, the Craft Club, Garden Club, and the Book Club through the Washington Carnegie Library are just to name a few. She also was a huge IU and St. Louis Cardinal fan and was very passionate about making monetary contributions towards the Donor’s Choose Projects for schoolteachers.
Survivors include her children, Gretchen Miles of Washington, Brad Miles of Indianapolis; sister, MaryLou Nolan of Indianapolis; sister and brother-in-law’s   Janie and Jack Myers of Washington, Harriett and Dick Walsh of Lafayette, sister-in-law’s, Marianne Erler and Barbara Osborn, and brother-in-law, Johnny Miles of Washington. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Mary Nolan, husband Tom Miles, brother, Mike Nolan, and her twin brother, Phil Nolan.

Friends may visit with Phyliss’ family from 4-8 pm on Monday, January 3, 2022, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 315 NE 3rd St., Washington, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Ferguson and Yvonne Evans celebrating. Phyllis will be laid to rest in St. John Cemetery next to her husband Tom. The Miles family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Washington High School Athletic Department, 608 E.
