Pregnant Worker Kicked After Dispute Over Hush Puppies

A customer at a Long John Silver’s in Evansville is accused of kicking a pregnant worker in the stomach during a dispute over hush puppies.
Police say a woman in a red Toyota Camry pulled into the drive-thru Sunday afternoon and ordered a single hush puppy.
When she was informed that hush puppies are sold in orders of two, she became angry. She yelled a racist slur at the employee as she drove past the drive-thru window, according to witnesses.
A second woman in the car began repeatedly calling the restaurant, demanding to speak to a manager, according to a police report.
The woman, described as a Black woman in her 30s or 40s, then got out of the car and entered the restaurant. When workers told her to leave, she started throwing things around. She then kicked a pregnant employee in the stomach and fled from the store.
The pregnant worker told police she wasn’t sure if the woman knew she was pregnant before kicking her, according to police.
The employee ran after the woman, chasing her across the parking lot of a nearby grocery store. She took a video with her cell phone as the woman jumped into the Camry and sped away.
Police are looking for the women involved. Call Evansville police with any tips.
