Law enforcement were on both sides of the argument Wednesday as a statehouse committee considered a bill to let Hoosiers carry a handgun without a license.
Supporters say the bill would cut down on officer-involved shootings and allow Hoosiers to practice their 2nd amendment rights more easily.
However, those against it, like Major Rob Simpson with Indiana State Police, say it would only make their job harder to find people who legal cannot carry a gun.
After all the testimony, lawmakers voted to advance the bill to the full House.
It passed last year but then stalled in the State Senate.
