The Washington vs Boonville game on Friday has been postponed due to illness with Boonville.

So, Washington will now play at North Knox tomorrow in a make-up game. It will be at North Knox with varsity tip at 7:30 pm.

So, that means Hatchet Homecoming on Friday will be postponed to a later date. Stay tuned for updates and a new date.

The Washington Girls game is still on tonight as Washington will host North Posey at the Hatchet House. Tip off at 8pm on Memories 107.9 fm, with pre-game coverage at 7:45 pm.

The Hatchet Boys game at Jasper is still on for Saturday.

The Barr Reeve Girls game at home tonight with NE Dubois has been postponed. Barr Reeve will play Saturday afternoon at home against Forest Park. Tip off is at 1:30 pm.

The Pike Central girls game at White River Valley has been postponed.

Washington Catholic is at home against Cannelton.

North Knox will host Shoals.

North Daviess plays at South Knox.

Loogootee will take on Vincennes Rivet.

The Washington Lady Hatchet girls basketball boosters announced some big news yesterday.  They are forming a new scholarship fund for the basketball program at Washington High School.  The Scholarship will go through Our Community Foundation, Inc. The recipient would need to be a part of the program as a player or manager.  Applicants would have to apply.  The boosters have pledged 20 percent of the $10,000 goal and our looking for business leaders and community members to help!  If you would like to help get this exciting new scholarship off the ground contact Coach Gretchen Miles at Lena Dunn, or the Washington High School Athletic Office at 812-254-3862.

The Washington Junior High Boys 7th grade basketball team improved to 10-4 on the season with a 40-29 win over Vincennes last night. Levi Burkemper led the Hatchets with 13 points followed by Jack Brower with 10.   The Hatchets play at Barr Reeve Tuesday night. 

The 8th graders improved to 12-1 on the season with a 46-20 win at Vincennes on Tuesday night. Cordell Turner topped the Hatchets with 19 points. Brody Isza had 13 points,  The 8th grade boys will also travel to Barr Reeve Tuesday.

The Boston Celtics beat the Indiana Pacers 119-100 Wednesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Blue and Gold shot 7-for-36 from 3-point range, and have lost eight out of nine. Jaylen Brown scored 34 points to lead all scorers, and his Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum poured in 33. Malcolm Brogdon returned after missing the last nine games, but played just 17 minutes and left due to a sore right Achilles. Caris LeVert also returned to the lineup after missing five games in health and safety protocols. LeVert played 29 minutes and scored 16 points. Boston led by five at halftime, but scored the first eight points of the third quarter to take control. The Celtics snapped a six-game road losing streak and beat the Pacers in back-to-back games. Indiana is a season-high 12 games under .500, and hosts the NBA-best Phoenix Suns Friday night.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay spoke up on social media Wednesday after his team’s devastating end to the season. Irsay said in a statement that the buck stops with him, and that the experience made him more determined to bring Indiana a contending team. The Colts collapsed down the stretch with two losses to miss the playoffs, including a season-ending loss to the NFL-worst Jaguars. Irsay added that the way the season ended was “perhaps the worst way possible,” and said he will do whatever it takes to put the Colts in a position to win next year and for years to come. Indianapolis finished the season 9-8, and does not have a 2022 first round draft pick, which belongs to the Eagles part of the trade for Carson Wentz.

Notre Dame dominated in the first half and went on to defeat Clemson 72-56 in an ACC showdown Wednesday night in South Bend. The Fighting Irish led 39-22 at halftime and cruised to their sixth straight victory. Dane Goodwin led Notre Dame with 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting, and freshman Blake Wesley added 20, including 16 in the second half. Nate Lasweski stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks. The Fighting Irish are 10-5, and 4-1 in conference play. Notre Dame plays at Virginia Tech Saturday to start a three-game road trip.

Indiana will look for its first road win of the season Thursday night when the Hoosiers face the Iowa Hawkeyes. IU is 12-3 after back-to-back home wins over Ohio State and Minnesota. The Hawkeyes are 11-4, and have not played since losing at Wisconsin last Thursday. Iowa is favored by four, with tip off set for 9 p.m. Eastern on FS1. Butler is on the road in our nation’s capital to take on Georgetown. The Dawgs are 8-6, and have been off since a home loss to Xavier Friday night. Hoyas coach Patrick Ewing will miss the game due to COVID protocols. Butler and Georgetown square off at 7 p.m. Eastern on FS1.
