Washington Catholic picked up a nice win at the Bird Cage last night getting by Cannelton 46-33.

Washington homecoming game tonight against Boonville has been postponed. The Hatchet Boys will now travel to North Knox to make up last week’s game with the Warriors. Pre-game starts at 7:15 pm with tip-off at 7:30 pm on Memories 107.9 fm. The Hatchet / Boonville game will now be played Thursday, February 17. The tentative rescheduled Homecoming Will be February 11th vs Bloomfield.

Washington 7th grade lady Hatchets fell short to South Knox last night 33-22. Amber Paige would lead the team in scoring with 10 pts. Washington 7th grade travels to North Daviess Monday night for a 7th grade only game. Start time is 6:00 pm at North Daviess.
Washington 8th grade Lady Hatchets (12-2) would play in the 2nd game of the night, with an impressive win 45-24. Washington 8th grade Lady Hatchets play at home Thursday night hosting Vincennes Clark 7th & 8th grade. The game starts at 6:00 pm.
There is lots of talk lately about the University of Southern Indiana moving up to Division 1 in the college world. The school put together a committee of athletes, coaches, faculty, alumni, and administration to explore the possibility and the group presented its findings to the Board of Trustees yesterday according to the Evansville Courier. The group concluded the school could do it with a few changes to their approach to athletics, and of course spending the money. The group did not give a formal recommendation to the board at yesterday’s meeting at this time.
Indiana fell apart in the second half,and lost at Iowa 83-74. The Hoosiers led by seven at halftime, but were doomed by 23 turnovers, and scored just 26 points in the second half. Trayce Jackson-Davis led Indiana with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Kris Murray led Iowa with a career-high 29 points off the bench. Indiana is 12-4 overall, and 0-4 on the road. The Hoosiers will try again for their first road win of the season Monday night at Nebraska.
Butler defeated Georgetown 72-58 Thursday night in Washington, D.C.
Purdue returns to the court Friday night to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The seventh-ranked Boilermakers have been off for six days after Tuesday’s game at Michigan was postponed due to COVID-19 issues in the Wolverines’ program. Purdue is 13-2 after escaping Penn State with a victory Saturday. Nebraska has struggled to a 6-11 mark, with an 0-6 record in Big Ten play. The Boilermakers are 20-point favorites for Friday night’s 6:30 p.m. tip off at Mackey Arena.
The Indiana Pacers host the NBA-best Phoenix Suns Friday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Blue and Gold have lost eight out of nine, including back-to-back losses to the Boston Celtics this week. Indiana is 15-27, the first time the Pacers have been 12 games under .500 since February of 2015. The defending Western Conference champion Suns are 31-9, the best record in the NBA. The Pacers and Suns square off at 7 p.m. Eastern in Indianapolis.
