The Daviess County Commissioners met on Tuesday with a packed agenda.
The meeting opened with updates from the highway department. Highway Supervisor Chris Winkler reported paving on the Glendale Road Project would begin in May and take about 3 weeks.
Winkler also addressed the Cannelburg Road Project and stated crews are currently working on replacing culverts and other box structures. He noted concrete paving crews will arrive in March to begin paving which is estimated to be completed by October. The road is scheduled to be finished and opened in June of 2023.
During the meeting, the Commissioners also agreed to submit a letter of support to INDOT for the West Street Project in Odon. The project would extend the current 900 East project through the Hwy 58 intersection on the northside.
According to the Odon Journal, a meeting was held last week at the Odon Town Hall to run down the details. The project was submitted last year at a cost of $7.3 Million, but the revised plan now being sent to INDOT, would cost about $6.4 Million. The plan features an 80% cost share from the state with Daviess County covering 10% and the Town of Odon covering the other 10%.
The plan will be submitted to INDOT for review and funding decisions will be announced within the next few months.
