Gibson Southern spoiled the Hatchet Homecoming celebration shooting 70 percent from the field and defeating Washington Saturday night 53-33. The Hatchets travel to Vincennes on Thursday.
North Daviess beat Orleans 37-21.
North Knox fell to Linton 66-27.
South Knox beat Shoals 36-27.
Jasper topped New Albany 60-50.
Pike Central edged out Mt Vernon 45-44.
Barr Reeve will make up their game with Shoals tonight. Tip off is at 7:30 pm on the General 95.9 / 101.3fm.

A reminder the IHSAA Girls basketball sectional tournament kicks off tomorrow night. WAMW will provide live coverage from both the 3A tournament in Washington and the Class A Sectional at North Daviess. Tune in for all the big game this week.
The WJHS Boys basketball team continued its winning ways on Saturday with a 47-43 win over a good Haubstadt team in the semifinals of the PAC Tournament. The 17-2 Hatchets were led in scoring by Cordell Turner with 20 followed by Xavion Lesure 10, Brody Isza 9, Cooper Wright 5 and Trey James 3. In the Championship game the 8th grade Hatchets took on Heritage Hills. Cordell Turner poured in 24 big points to led to Hatchets to a 43-35 victory and the PAC Tournament Championship. Xavion Lesure added 7 points, Brody Isza and Trey James each with 5 and Cooper Wright with 2.
The Washington 8th grade Lady Hatchets traveled to Gibson Southern Saturday morning to play in the semi finals vs North Posey in the 2022 PAC tournament. The 8th Grade Washington Lady Hatchets would bow out of the Tourney with 41-36 loss. The 8th Grade Washington Lady Hatchets would finish a great season with a 16-3 Record.
The Washington Hatchet Wrestling team competed in the sectional at Castle on Saturday. Washington’s Brady Byrd was crowned champion in the 106 pound weight class. Brody Wilson finished third in the 113 class to advance, Jack Whitehead at 126 finished fourth, and Omar Mora at 170 finished 4th all advancing to regionals this weekend.
Jaden Ivey hit a 3-pointer in the final second, and Purdue beat Ohio State 81-78 Sunday at Mackey Arena. Ivey’s fadeaway trey from the right wing kept the 16th-ranked Buckeyes from forcing overtime. The Boilers have won three in a row to improve to 18-3, and play at Minnesota Wednesday night.
The red-hot Notre Dame Fighting Irish welcome the ninth-ranked Duke Blue Devils to South Bend for an ACC showdown Monday night. The Fighting Irish have won nine out of 10 to improve to 14-6 overall, and are tied with Duke for second place in the conference with a 7-2 ACC record.
The Indiana Pacers are back at home Monday night to take on the Los Angeles Clippers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to start a three-game homestand. The Blue and Gold split a pair of road games over the weekend, with a thrilling overtime win over the Thunder and a 27-point loss to the Mavericks. Indiana is 18-33, while the Clippers enter Monday night 26-26.
It’s the Bengals and the Rams in this year’s Superbowl. The Bengals make their first trip since 1989 after a thrilling overtime win over Kansas City on their home field 27 to 24. Joe Burrow’s Bengals will now square off with the Rams who held off a good challenge from the 49ers for a win in the NFC conference title game 20 to 17.
