Charles “Tom” Mathis 81, passed from this life on January 31, 2022.
Tom was born in Washington, IN to the late Charles Perry Mathis and Virginia Elizabeth Ross Mathis.
On April 24, 1966 he was married to Dorothy Walls and she survives. Tom was a member of the United States Army where he served as a firefighter; he loved to fish, hunt mushrooms, and be outdoors.
Tom is survived by; daughters, Kimberly Jane Edwards, Kelly Ann Grannan, Kerrie Lynn Eggleston, Karen Elizabeth Johnson; sons Thomas Ryan Mathis, and Marshall Lee Mathis; twenty-four grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Clyde “Bud” Mathis, George Dale Mathis, Francis Frank Mathis, Fred Lee Mathis, Joseph Mark Mathis, Esther Jones, Marilyn Strate.
He was preceded in death by; sisters, Elizabeth Jane Mathis, Ginny Orchard, Judy Wininger, Carolyn Sullivan; and brother, Robert Gene Mathis.
Visitation will be held at Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut St. 47501 on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. with a service immediately following.
