Daviess County has upgraded the travel status to Level 2 Watch Status due to the road conditions threatening safe travel. Level 2 WATCH Status means only essential travel, such as to and from work or an emergency situation.
The Louisville office of the National Weather Service says counties in the southern portion of the state have seen as much as a quarter-inch of ice build up on roads, trees, and power lines.
A half-inch accumulation on power lines can add 500 pounds of extra weight.
Some places have reported down tree limbs on roadways because of ice build up.
Several areas in Pike County have lost power. WIN Energy is currently working to resolve the issue.
Tonight, it will be mostly snow throughout the area with the system clearing out by early tomorrow morning.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 1:00 am Friday, February 4th.
