John Organ

Longtime Vincennes businessman and co- founder of Organ Battery, John D. Organ, 87, passed away at 9:30 pm on February 4, 2022 at BridgePointe Health Campus. John was born on May 18, 1934 in Vincennes the son of Jesse O. Sr., and Thelma (Hicks) Organ.

John owned and operated Organ Battery for several years until his retirement and was a member of Indiana Presbyterian Church as well as a former trustee. John was very instrumental in his community and involved in many civic organizations. He was a fifty year plus member of the Vincennes Masonic Lodge #1, Scottish Rite, and Hadi Shrine, where he received the Shriner of the Year award twice. He was also a fifty year plus member of the Vincennes Harmony Society, the Elks Lodge and the Vincennes and Lawrenceville Moose Lodges.

Survivors include his children, Mike Organ and his companion Peggy of Vincennes, Diane Goldsboro and her husband Dean of Vincennes, Scott Organ and his wife Sherry of Vincennes, Janet Buescher and her husband Charles of Freelandville; half-sister, Kathy Organ Denny of Roundrock, TX; step-brother, Larry Lockhart and his wife Claudia of Vincennes; special-friend, Sue Milligan of Vincennes; his grandchildren, Troy Michael Organ, Kara Doyle, Tyler Dant, Jamie Boren, Eric Organ, Jordan Buescher; and six great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Loel Darnold, brother, Jesse Organ, Jr., and stepsister, Shirley Lockhart Deem.

Friends may visit with John’s family from 4-8 pm on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. John’s Funeral service will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Tromley officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 10:10 am on Saturday before the start of the funeral service. John will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Organ family has requested memorial contributions be made in John’s name to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
