Marvin Glen Thompson, 90 of Washington went to his heavenly home on Saturday, February 5, 2022.
Marvin was born in Cuzco, IN to the late John “Frank” Thompson and Charlotte Cox Thompson on August 5, 1935.
He was a 1950 graduate of French Lick High School and afterwards received his bachelors degree in 1954 from Purdue University in Agricultural Science. Marvin was married to Vi Hall Thompson on June 24, 1956 and they spent nearly sixty-six years happily married. Marvin worked for thirty-two years in Soil Conservation and Agriculture and twenty years as a Crop Insurance Adjuster. He served his country in the Unites States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1954-1956. He was a member of New Hope Christian Church and enjoyed fellowship with his church family as well as spending time with his wife and daughters. Marvin had many interests; he was a master gardener (it just came naturally), fishing, mushroom hunting, traveling with his wife, and was an avid sports fan, especially the Boilermakers.
Marvin is survived by; his loving wife, Vi Thompson; daughters, Mary Ann Hoopingarner (Bob), Connie Englehart (Bryan); grandchildren, Shannon Walters (Andy), Rob Hoopingarner (Sarah), Craig Hoopingarner, Tiffanie Arthur (Gary), and Taylor Gray (Tyler); eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by; parents; and three sisters, Opal Stilwell, Fern Wagner, and Hollace Roach.
Visitation will be held at New Hope Christian Church, 559 E. 100 S. Washington, IN 47501 on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a service following on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. also at the church with visitation from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Crystal Community Cemetery of Dubois County with Military Graveside Honors. Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with Mr. Thompson’s arrangements.
